Bay Shore’s
Day Camp on the Road!

Bay Shore’s Day Camp On The Road is where our ministry meets community. It’s where far-off camp adventures meet your local church.  Day Camp On The Road takes the foundations of VBS and combines them with the best parts of camp ministry to help kids grow and develop into individuals with a heart for Jesus.

Why Day Camp On The Road?

After our first full summer of this program in 2021, the goals of Day Camp On The Road were firmly established: to bring the faith and adventure of camp ministry to communities around Michigan.  It allows K-5th graders to experience the camping world in a familiar place before they are ready for the overnight, away-from-home setting that our Sebewaing campus provides.  The partnership between BSC and the site churches introduces new faces to both church settings and recreational camping, bringing the ministries together under one banner.  “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” Matthew 18:20, NIV.

SUMMER 2022 THEME: Jesus Is

Last summer our day campers learned who they are in Jesus with the I Am theme.  Lesson titles included I am loved by God, I am Created for a reason, I am in need of a savior, and I am gifted with a purpose.

Jesus is will give campers a perspective on who their savior is, what he did for all believers, and why it matters in their lives.  We look forward exploring the four gospels and reflecting scripture as a whole to see the story of our redeemer unfold for day campers in 2022.

Our Team

Each site is led by a college-age site director and college and high-school-age counselors. This on-site team is supported by Bay Shore Camp’s roving program staff. Extensive staff training includes Bay Shore’s programming and stringent child safety policies. Site directors also receive training from professional vendors on ropes course facilitation and First Aid + CPR.

Bay Shore Traveling Day Camp counselors hail from Bay Shore Camp’s Leadership Training Camp, a leadership development program for rising 11th-12th graders and College Freshmen/Sophomores. Participants apply, interview, and are accepted into the two-part program that begins with intense leadership training and culminates in serving as counselors at the Bay Shore Day Camp on the Road sites.
