I write to you today of seasons of change. In the book of Ecclesiastes there is that well known saying “to everything there is a season”. For the last 30 years my life prayer has been, “Lord put me where and doing what you want me to do”. That prayer has changed now to “Lord put me to doing what you want me to do, but open a door closer to my family”. You see over a year ago Rose Mary started asking me about relocating closer to family. She’s even gotten to the point she has a target drawn on a map. I responded that once we got past the camp’s centennial, I was all hers. Issues of the last summer, Rose Mary’s health and my mom now battling cancer at 86 years of age, have only strengthened that desire of our hearts. So I write to you today to say that we have shared with the Board our intention of stepping down before next summer. A search team in being put together to plan for Bay Shore’s next season of leadership. I ask that you pray for that group, and I ask that you pray for Rose Mary and I as we plan and seek after God for our next season as well.
Beyond our departure, this is a season of change within the Bay Shore staff as well. Leann Austin is planning on going to part-time with the impending birth of their baby. Lorna Baur is planning for her retirement shortly after the first of the year. Herb has left the position of Food Service Director, which has been filled by Denise Hempton, a long time summer shift lead in the morning Cynthia is no longer in our Marketing and Promotions position. So Bay Shore will have a different look within its staff by next summer, but I would remind you that “In all things, God works for the good of those who love him”. There is no doubt that Bay Shore loves the Lord, and that God is in charge of this time, and will bring Glory to Himself as He shepherds all of us through this Season of Change. Remember, we’re not leaving yet, so we’ll see you around but thanks for your friendship and all you do for the Lord through Bay Shore.
Yours in Christ’s Service,
Mike Coffey
